Irish Hairdressing Council Celebrates Global Recognition in Paris

The Irish Hairdressing Council was proud to represent Ireland on the international stage in Paris, as our President, Fiona Gainfort, was honoured with the prestigious President’s Award at a special ceremony during OMC Hairworld 2025.

Our delegation, led by President Fiona Gainfort and joined by Vice President Melissa Hayward and Lifetime Honorary President Maeve O’Healy Harte, attended this world-renowned event, which took place alongside MCB by Beauté Sélection, one of the most influential beauty trade shows globally.

OMC Hairworld 2025 saw Paris transformed into the global hub of hair artistry, with over a thousand competitors from across the world showcasing exceptional creativity, technical skill and innovation. The event was a true celebration of international excellence within the hair, beauty and nail industries.
The Organisation Mondiale Coiffure (OMC), founded in Lyon in 1946, is the leading global authority representing the professional hair, beauty and nail sectors. Today, OMC brings together more than 50 member countries and millions of professionals worldwide. Its flagship event, OMC Hairworld – often described as the ‘Hair Olympics’ – provides a world-class platform for industry professionals from all five continents to demonstrate their expertise and artistic vision.
Fiona Gainfort’s award marks a moment of immense pride for the Irish Hairdressing Council and the wider Irish hairdressing community. It recognises her outstanding leadership, unwavering commitment to education, and dedication to elevating Irish hairdressing on the global stage.
